Triin Kukk

The board of the Françoise van den Bosch Foundation has selected jewellery designer Triin Kukk from thirty-five international applications as Artist in Residence 2020. Due to the Corona-crisis her stay has been postponed to 2022. She will be staying at Studio Rian de Jong in Amsterdam from the beginning of May until the end of July, thanks to the support of Rian de Jong and Herman Marres.

Triin Kukk (1990) is based in Tallinn, Estonia. She studied in Tokyo, Idar-Oberstein, Imatra and Tallinn, and holds an MA degree in jewellery from the Estonian Academy of Arts. She exhibits her work internationally, a recent highlight being selected for Schmuck 2018. This year, she was one of the winners of the Marzee Graduate Prize.

Central to Triin’s work is the concept of looking, noticing, being present and being absent, whereby one can lead to the other. She focuses on how objects can dissappear from our attention, and how they behave when reappearing.

“During the Françoise van den Bosch Residency, I want to continue with the idea of everyday oddity by placing objects in another context away from their initial purpose. I want to create work that evokes questions about our everyday (un)reality by using media like analogue photography and combining handmade objects with found objects.”
