Lisa Walker
(New Zealand, 1967)
Winner Françoise van den Bosch Award 2010
Inspired by the punk movement’s anti-establishment mentality and its do-it-yourself ethos, Lisa Walker transforms everyday objects, imbuing them with new meaning and stripping them off their conventional associations. She boldly foregrounds materials and techniques traditionally considered taboo in goldsmithing. Through her work, Walker challenges the very notion of jewellery: What is jewellery? What should it do?
