Winner Françoise van den Bosch Award 2014

Sophie Hanagarth is an internationally acclaimed jewellery artist who has been living and working in Paris since the late 1990s. After an apprenticeship with Lausanne-based goldsmith Pierre Bersier, she studied jewellery design at the École Supérieure d’Arts Appliqués in Geneva (now HEAD), graduating in 1995. Her work gained recognition early on, particularly through the series Family Jewels, which established the symbolism, surrealism, and humour that continue to define her practice. Since 2000, Hanagarth has taught at the Paris jewellery school AFEDAP and, since 2002, at the Haute École des Arts du Rhin (HEAR) in Strasbourg. She received two of the most prestigious awards in contemporary jewellery, the Herbert Hofmann Prize (2011) and the Françoise van den Bosch Award (2014). Her work is held in major museum collections across Europe and the United States.

The award ceremony took place at CODA Museum Apeldoorn on 1 November 2015.
