trophy commission for Marc Monzó, as part of the Françoise van den Bosch Award 2016

“The trophy brooch for the Françoise van den Bosch Award winner Marc Monzó was developed from the jewellery series same, same but different and is inspired by Ancient African and Oceanic masks. Since a mask can be an encouraging and protective item it is something that is worn with great pride. But this mindset can also be transferred through the act of gifting. Therefore, in the production process, two masks were translated into abstract sketches and reduced to their outlines. Finally, they were merged together and transformed into a three-dimensional object made from spring bronze.”
