Manon van Kouswijk
(The Netherlands / Australia, 1967)
Manon van Kouswijk is a Dutch jewellery artist whose practice combines conceptual inquiry with a fascination for the enduring archetypes of jewellery. After training as a goldsmith, she graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 1995 and later served as Head of its Jewellery Department. Since relocating to Melbourne in 2010, she has worked as an artist, educator, and coordinator at Monash University. Through diverse materials and meticulous, often labour-intensive processes, Van Kouswijk reinterprets familiar jewellery forms while embracing the traces of making. Her work explores value, memory, exchange, and personal attachment, and is held in major museum collections across Europe and Australia, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, FNAC Paris, NGV Melbourne, and MUDAC Lausanne.
